I hate poetry
I won't read between the lines
Stating things outright
Suits me just fine

I hate poets
They're emotional and cheesy
The way that they say things
Makes me very queasy

I hate rhyming
And rhythm's even worse
Specially-placed punctuation
Causes me to curse

I hate romance
Angst just makes me mad
I always seem to laugh
When it's supposed to make me sad

I could write a sentence
A dull and stupid bore
But if I write it
                           like
      this
Does it suddenly mean more?

I put this in humour, even though I'm serious. I really do hate poetry. I really, really, really HATE poetry. n_n

I hate poetry too. I often miss the point of the poem entirely. Subtle techniques involving structure and rhyme, no sir, flies right over the noggin.

But you write good poetry =P

Oh god you are so incredibly right in all you say. XD

I always go and try to write some poem like the ones I see in DD and stuff that are all whimsy and somehow oh soo professional and genius!

After 30 minutes I've squeezed out two stanzas that could actually pull it off.

But it sounds so stupid that I just backarrow, backarrow, time for kitchen!. :D

It is disheartening that such a high percentage of verses in dA wander into self-absorption and meaningless word play.

We need more poems that say something.

Like this one.

P.S. I've always had a chip on for poets with e e cumming's disease.

Heh heh xD In History class, we had to read poems and the questions we had to answer about them were so obscure. Like, "What does the last line mean?" I sort of stared at it and went "Nothing?" and the teacher started to get really frustrated with me :B
